Hi,

My name is Dave Guthrie. I was born in the heart of coal country in West Virginia. My family moved from there to Florida, then to Kentucky, back to Florida, to Arkansas, and finally back to West Virginia where I graduated from Sherman High School. I attended West Virginia Institute of Technology (now WVU of Tech) for two years and then joined the US Army. I was stationed in Germany for six and a half years. I left the Army after my last duty station in Colorado Springs, CO, and headed back east to the Hampton Roads area where I've been ever since.

My beautiful wife, Kathy, and I have three boys, Michael, Joshua, and Jason. We enjoy going to the movies a lot or renting them and having a popcorn night at home. We also enjoy going swimming and going to amusement parks. I've recently picked up the game of golf and I'm totally hooked. Now that Jason is old enough to ride a bike by himself, we will be doing a lot of biking together.

I entered the real estate business several years ago for a number of reasons, but mostly because of a past experience I had buying a home. Kathy and I bought our first home without the assistance of a Realtor on either side of the deal. During the transaction I was able to catch several costly mistakes  being made by a number of the parties involved, from the seller to the mortgage company and settlement company. I realized then that there was probably so much more to the home buying and selling process that I may have missed out on, and that could have possibly helped me save even more money. Several years ago, when my then current employer was talking about having a lay-off, Kathy reminded me of how I handled our home purchase and encouraged me to get my real estate license. I realized that I actually enjoyed the negotiation process when we purchased our home and, with the correct training, I would be able to help other home buyers and sellers avoid some of the costly mistakes. The rest, as they say, is history.

I like to develope personal relationships with my clients that last well beyond the day they buy or sell their home with me. I'm always available as  source of information if they need the services of contractors or professionals in or around the real estate industry or the local community in general. My goal is to always be available if they need me or know of anyone else who might need my services. I treat their referrals the same as I would if working directly with them. It's my philosophy in business as well as life.

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions I might be able to help you with. If I don't know the answer, I'm sure I can find someone who does. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Dave

Oh, by the way, if you know of a family member or friend who may be thinking of buying or selling a home soon, please give them my name, number, and web site addres or call me with their contact information. I will make sure to take very good care of them for you.
